One River North

At One River North, a 17-story building in Denver built with Saunders Construction, MAD Architects and Davis Partnership, the aquatic highlight is on the roof: an 840 sq. ft. shotcrete swimming pool and a 100 sq. ft. spa, framed by custom coping integrated with a slot drain. Using shotcrete in place of a stainless steel pool shell kept costs down without sacrificing quality. A custom Bomanite MicroTop water feature follows the building’s iconic slot canyon design.

Getting concrete to the roof took Brundage Bone’s largest concrete pump, moving concrete up 17 stories with only five inches of clearance, and a Holcim mix developed for high-altitude pumping in winter. Custom CNC formwork and 3D printed rebar chairs made precise details possible, from the pool coping to the water feature steps.

The more than 20,000 square feet of specialty exposed and broom-finished concrete on the project was completed by Colorado Hardscapes.
